PCB Designer for WindowsPCB Designer is a Microsoft Windows application (see PCB Designer Requirements) that enables you to design masks for printed circuit boards. It's main goal is to make this process as easy as possible. It is ideally suited for use in educational establishments, for the home hobbyist and for small businesses. English and French language libraries are included in both the full and demo versions. Free Demo Available or Buy onlineHow it works...The program acts like a sheet of paper, onto which you can place pads, tracks, IC's, etc. Along the top of the screen is a toolbar, as found in almost all modern Windows packages. A portion of the toolbar, showing the track, pad and IC tools, looks like this...
...now to add an IC to the board you would...
...it really is that easy. To make it even easier there are predefined IC sizes of 8, 14, 16 and 20 pins. Of course, there's a custom size too, which allows any size of IC to be added. The PCB's tracks are added in a similar way - just point and click. You can add elbows to a straight piece of track simply by placing the mouse cursor on the track, pressing the left mouse button and dragging the new bend to where you want it. The track behaves as if it was a piece of elastic. There is a toolbar of predfined pad shapes for the commonest components and SMT pads, as well as connector fingers and drill 'targets'. There are buttons to instantly zoom you in and out from the layout. Cut and Paste works too allowing you to duplicate areas of the layout. It uses the familiar MDI windows layout enabling you to open more than one PCB and cut and paste items between them. Why not have a look at a full screenshot of PCB Designer ?
